Projects and support across a wide area

We cover the whole of Cornwall and into Devon, and we also undertake periodic work further afield if required. We are based in Truro which means we are well situated to be able to respond to any reactive maintenance/emergency call outs. We regularly travel up and down the county providing reactive maintenance support for Devon and Cornwall Police and the RNLI to name but a few.

Project 1

The Ship Inn, Looe

Electrical Distribution Equipment

One of our valued customers asked us to update the distribution equipment of a village pub and bed and breakfast. Due to the condition of the existing equipment, we replaced it with new equipment to allow for further expansion and to incorporate Arc Fault Detection Devices (AFDDs) for added safety, considering the presence of occupants/guests.

A&P Falmouth (Dockyard)

Electrical Supply

Our customer needed an electrical supply at the end of a dock's wharf. This required a complex cable route involving the excavation of an existing duct system and a proprietary cable support system for harsh environments. All work was completed on time and within budget.

Truro New County Hall

Electrical Switch Panel Replacement

One of our customers urgently brought this job to our attention.

Our survey revealed the main ACB device was obsolete and at risk of failing, which could cause a complete power loss.

We planned to install a new switch panel and jointing enclosure, aiming for a four-day shutdown to replace the old equipment and run a new 1250A supply.

Working in 12-hour shifts with another contractor, we completed the job, requiring meticulous planning due to tight deadlines and complexities.

Duchy Hospital

Upgrade Lighting

We were approached by a local hospital for a solution to upgrade their existing theatre lighting from fluorescent to LED due to poor reliability and constant repairs which was incurring unwanted downtime of the operating theatre and subsequent costs.

Due to lack of time needed to replace the light fittings and construct new apertures within the ceiling void, we commissioned some bespoke retro fit Led gear trays complete with 3hr emergency packs with switch dim compatibility along with some new opal diffusers.

These works were completed in one night and left the theatre with a bright, clean, maintenance-free solution which should last for many years to come.

Project 5

Duchy Hospital

Renovation of the Catheterization Laboratory

This project involved the renovation of the Catheterization laboratory at the Duchy hospital in Truro.

Our involvement included the following:

Installing new electrical supplies for medical equipment
New lighting/emergency lighting scheme to cardiac lab
New medical group 2 earthing systems complete with EBB’s
Full containment solutions for new systems install
Installation of new Power tower including IPS sockets and earth jacks

These works were carried out within a live hospital setting and required a large amount of planning and out of hours working to complete.

Close liaison with the hospital maintenance team was essential to aid us in completing some of the more onerous tasks including site wide shut down and IPS alterations.

The project was complete on time and within budget and we are very happy with the result.
